Websites to Stay Away From

Yeild Sign - Stay away from these websitesWhen buying websites, you’ll chance upon properties that you absolutely must get.  On the flipside, you’ll also come across ones that would be best passed over.  How do you know when an available website is best treated with a brush-off?

Search Engine Problems: If the website is banned by at least one search engine, it’s likely to get in the bad favor of others too.  No matter how good it looks, flipping the site will be an uphill battle – one you’re not likely to win.

Zero Promotion: New sites deserve bargain basement prices.  Even though the owner put in a ton of work on the technical aspects, it’s still a shaky buy, at best.  Unless the domain name is a keyword-goldmine, it’s usually better to pass.

Heavy Competition: If the site being sold is a small fish in a large pond filled with plenty of established players, there’s far too much work needed to bring it up to speed.  Unless you can successfully turn the site’s fate around, future buyers will be wary.

Short-Life Span: Sites about particular products or niches that are bound to be gone in a year or two (e.g. a particular movie or a game) are a losing gamble.  After the buzz passes, anyone who gets it will be left with residual traffic that may not even be good enough to pay for its own rent.

Easy To Duplicate: When you check the bargain basement sections of site flipping, you’ll notice the exact same types of properties for sale – wallpaper sites, proxy sites, arcade games, PLR blogs, etc.  With the right content and tools, those sites can be turned out in mass.  There’s no point buying them – just make ten of the same thing yourself.

Make sure to think twice about any website you do buy, many times if it seems to good to be true it usually is.  Make a checklist and go through it every time you are in the market for a new site.

Domain Names that make an Easy Flip

Sometimes, all you need to look for in a website to make a profitable site flip is a good domain name.  This is especially useful when you’re starting a site from scratch with an intention to put it in the market after a small amount of development.  Even if you’re looking to buy a built site, though, the domain name will play a heavy factor as far as its future marketability is concerned.

These are the things you generally want to look for when choosing a domain name.

1. The shorter, the better

A shorter domain name will be easier to remember, faster to type and easier to brand.  As much as possible, stick to within three keywords or less.   If you can get away with it, do limit the character count to 19 or fewer as well.

2. Stick to the major TLDs

For purposes of flipping, keep the domain name to within the three major TLDs, namely .com, .org and .net.  If you’re considering purchase of a site with a different extension, see if you can buy a major TLD of the same before going through with the transaction.  Otherwise, you may just want to pass.  The majority of people default to .coms when they hear about a website, so as much as possible I grab a .com domain.

3. Cram your keywords into the domain

Having the main keyword in the domain automatically brings SEO value to the site, as well as slapping those vital words right on the brand.  This brings major points once you throw the site back on the market as keywords are among the first things buyers look at when looking for online properties to invest on.

4. Avoid trademark violations

Always check whether a domain violates any trademarks.  The last thing you want is to invest all that time and energy developing a site for flipping, only to have buyers refuse to even come near it for fear of infringing on other companies’ legal properties.

Stick to these few guidelines and you’ll be off to a good start in the website flipping proccess.

Site Flipping: A Golden Opportunity

Site Flipping: A Golden Opportunity

Flipping properties has been an age-old business model utilized across many industries.  There is, indeed, a lot of money to be made in acquiring under-performing assets, dressing them up and putting them back on the market for a nice margin.

The same profitable scheme has also found extensive use online.  Instead of turning over real estate or yachts or cars, however, people have been banking it by flipping websites.

Under-Performers

Site Flipping GradeThere are probably millions, if not billions, of websites today.  While some of these browser fares have become all but indispensable in our daily lives, many more are merely languishing in the sidelines for a variety of reasons.

Down-on-their-luck websites like these are no different from real world businesses on their last legs.  While a few of them may have no chance of thriving (like a surf shop on the middle of the desert, for instance), some may have merely been mismanaged, poorly marketed or ignored in favor of more profitable ventures.

An Opportunity

While majority of these websites will likely fade into obscurity, never to be seen again, many of them may actually present an opportunity to someone with a keen eye for potential.  A web-savvy entrepreneur with the qualified know-how can take some of these under-performing properties and turn them into modestly profitable ventures.

Regardless of what kind of budget you’re working with, website flipping can be a golden opportunity for someone with the right skillset and the ability to spot a likely star amidst a sea of unwanted sites.  Do you have what it takes to dive in and be a part of it?

Get on it, and start flipping some sites!

Pointers to Consider in Website Flipping

Flipping domain names is a money-spinning business if you are familiar with what to look for and where to look.

Pointers to consider:

1. Domains with Google PageRank

Normally people purchase domain names with PR without considering of the actual domain name…

People that are purchasing domain names with Pagerank have high probability of selling links on the domain.
But the truth is that selling links is not really the deal. Your aim should be to acquire a domain name and flip it for a profit!

 2. Aged Domains are Good as New

Aged domain names have the advantage of preventing the Google “sandbox”. It usually ranks higher and faster in search engines for the targeted keywords.
Google is likely to grant aged domain names more weight and ranks them better.

Several tools can be used to sort out the domain name results depending on what you are searching for. Domain name lists are renewed every hour so it is advisable to check often and catch some GREAT dropping domains.

Some say flipping domain names is not a reliable full time online business. But Domain flipping, done with the right strategy at the right time, will undeniably give you high profits in a snap!

Being a part of the website flipping business requires a sense of uniqueness for you to give a good innovation on the sites that you plan to buy and sell. An alternative way to get into this trend would be hiring a professional who has a broad knowledge on getting a highly profitable site to trade in the most cost effective way. Whatever way you would decide to use, a good research on website flipping would still mean a lot.

Online business is now greatly occupied by traders and “website flippers”, these are the ones who practice systems that are very similar to real estate and stock trading wherein they buy and sell in a short time then produces a swift profit from it. This system is well-established and serves a very great way to have a constant income.

As a starter, you must first choose the right website to invest for. You can do this by selecting a website which is highly marketable on the time you foresee to start selling or marketing it.

My guides for getting a profitable website are as follows:

Determine the website’s target market.

If you have a product that you’ve already started getting profit from, then this would be very helpful for you to find a website that fits your target market.

Find a website loaded with good contents.

This would mean just a simple rewriting of the contents and then proceed to optimizing the advertisements to get high conversions.

Venture for day-trading websites.

These are websites which has both good target market and good contents but not excelling in online marketing/promotions.The only thing you should work on this is maximizing its online presence and creates appealing promotions.

Community-centered websites means high profit.

These are websites which has well-established target markets thru their forum communities or networks. Be sure to select the site with high value to advertisers and has a wide list of affiliations where you can establish good marketing partnerships.

Consider the current and the foreseeable popular keywords that give a high impact to the online market.

If you have an idea about the current trends that’s booming around, then you have an idea of the current keywords that produces good results. Find the sites filled with good keywords to ensure that you’re competitive enough with the latest trends.

If you can’t beat them, join them!

Why would you compete with the high ranking websites when you could be one of them by simply joining their circle? This would lead you to finding a website which may be characterized similar to a circle of high ranking sites that you could offer partnership and once you’ve done this, voila! Take Advantage of the Opportunities Ahead!

Once you’ve realize how easy it is to start a website flipping business. You’re now ready to take advantage of the opportunities that the World Wide Web is offering, provided you’re serious about it and knows how to deal with it.

Is it Worth it?

Thumbs UpWhen I bought my first website I looked for a couple days and found one that looked amazing and had a product to sell and I thought I was going to make so much money off it… Not… I bought it and it ended up being a site that had 1,000 others just like it on the web.

So Is it Worth it?

Before you purchase a site there are some things to look at.

Is it worth it tip #1: Is the content on the site/blog copied or original? You can check this by entering the URL at copyscape. If Copyscape comes up with anything then the sites value drastically decreases.

Is it worth it tip #2: Is the site banned by google or other search engines? Check iwebtools.com to see if the site is banned from Google. A website that is banned is basically useless, so watch out for banned sites.

Is it worth it tip #3: How many backlinks does the site have. Backlinks are one of the most important things to search engines, so a good quality backlinks are worth a lot. Check backlinks by going into Google or Yahoo and typing link:www.yoursite.com and the results will show the backlinks coming to that site. Yahoo is said to give better results, but try both and see what you get.

Is it worth it tip #4: Check the Page Rank. Page Rank is how google ranks websites quality. Nobody really knows exactly the way page rank works, but backlinks are very important. If you have good backlinks your going to start moving up the PR ladder. Check a websites Page Rank Here.

These are some important things you need to be thinking about when looking into a website. Don’t be taken advantage of because you don’t know what to look for.

I hope this has opened your eyes a bit and given you something to look for in the future.

Hosting And Domain Provider – Which To Choose?

Hosting And Domain Provider

World Wide Web PictureSo what’s up with this… Today I was on the Wealthy Affiliate forums and was helping a newbie pick out a domain and hosting provider. He said he was checking out this one domain provider and it was $15.00 for a domain… WHAT! Thats ridiculous… I hope no body is doing this. So I figured I would go over some providers I have used and my experiences with them.

With Website Flipping you will be buying a lot of domain names and will need a reliable hosting provider to keep your Website Flipping business going. There are lots of places out there to choose from, so here are my favorite Hosting And Domain Providers.

GoDaddy:

So when I first got my website up I got both the domain and hosting from, still my favorite place, Godaddy. To this day I have not had any problems with this hosting and domain provider. I still have brain-farts to this day and forget how to do something and I will call them up and they will help me within minutes. Also, there prices are pretty reasonable, they have $0.99 .info domains and $9.99 .com domains, but I have codes to get the .com for $6.99 if anyone is interested. All in all great customer service, and yes, you CAN understand them! If your just starting out AND/OR customer service is a big thing for you, choose Godaddy.

HostGator:

If you ask any one that deals with websites, they will almost always recommend HostGator for your hosting. I mean it’s $10 a month to host unlimited websites, you can’t get much better than that.

1and1:

I have mixed feeling about 1and1. I don’t know if I was just used to GoDaddy but when I signed up with 1and1 I really disliked the layout after you logged in. Another thing, I have called there support and have found it difficult to understand some of the technicians and after asking them a question they always put me on hold, seems like they are looking up the answer.

Others:

I have also used namecheap.com and name.com and they are also really great for domain names, I don’t believe they have hosting but I could be wrong.

Hosting And Domain Provider – Conclusion

Well those are the companies that I have had experience with and I hope this helped some of you out. The best way to start Website Flipping is to get your feet wet. So go find your self a hosting and domain provider and start building a website!

The Best Of Luck,

What Is Website Flipping?

confusedSo what the heck is website flipping you ask? Well, we have all heard of house flipping right? You buy a ugly, beatdown, house that nobody takes care of and you work your magic! Painting, repairing, showing it some TLC and then selling it for some good cash to buyers who love the new look!

So what is website flipping?

- It is the same concept except for with virtual property. Buy a runned down website fix it up, get traffic, add content and sell to someone interested.

- OR, create websites with the intent on flipping them in order for you to make a profit.

Well, as you can see I didn’t go in depth about what website flipping is. A basic understand of how it works is a good start. Of course it’s not as easy as I made it sound but it’s a very entertaining way to make money online.

I think the best way to get started is to go buy a website from eBay for anywhere from $1 to $10 and start working on it. If you know web design and how to get traffic you will have no problem, if not just keep reading and I will teach you everything you need!
